1. Introduction

Welcome to T-Scanner ("we", "the app"). We are committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the T-Scanner mobile app on the Android operating system.

By installing and using T-Scanner, you agree to the terms stated in this policy.

2. Data processing principle: 100% On-Device Processing

T-Scanner is designed with a privacy-first principle:

  • Offline processing: The entire process of scanning documents, extracting text (Vietnamese/English OCR via Tesseract and ML Kit), converting to PDF, and stitching long images is performed directly on your device.
  • No document uploads to servers: We do NOT store, copy, or upload your scanned images, extracted text content, or PDF files to any remote server when you use the core features. Your documents belong solely to you and reside only in your device's memory.

3. App permissions and their purposes

To provide its core features, T-Scanner requests certain permissions on Android devices:

  1. Camera permission (android.permission.CAMERA):

    • Purpose: Lets you photograph documents, receipts, and papers to scan and convert them into PDFs or extract OCR text.
    • Commitment: The app only activates the camera when you tap the Scan/Capture button. We do not capture photos in the background, record video, or use the camera for any other purpose.

  2. Read images and files permission (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE):

    • Purpose: Lets you pick existing images or document files from your device's gallery to convert to PDF or recognize text.
    • Commitment: The app only reads the specific files you actively select.

  3. Write storage permission (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — Android 9 and below only):

    • Purpose: Used to save exported PDF files, Word/Excel documents, and images to device storage so you can view or share them later.
    • Commitment: On Android 10 and above, the app uses Google's standard Scoped Storage and never accesses other apps' data.

4. Collection and sharing of information with third parties

  • Personally identifiable information (PII): We do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, geographic location, or contacts. You do not need to register an account to use the core scanning features.
  • Third-party services (Google Play Services / ML Kit): The app uses standard software libraries from Google (Google Play Services, ML Kit Document Scanner). These libraries may collect some non-identifying technical information (such as device model and OS version) to improve app stability, in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
  • No data sales: We pledge to never sell, trade, or share any of your personal data or scanned documents with any third party or advertiser.

5. Data storage and deletion

  • All scanned documents, folders, and extracted text are stored locally in the app's secure internal storage on your device.
  • Your control: You have full control to view, rename, share, or permanently delete any document or folder at any time within the app. When you uninstall the app, all data stored in the app's folder is also wiped from the device.

6. Children's privacy

The T-Scanner app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children.

7. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
